This capability automatically generates relevant descriptions for every image, making your content more inclusive and easily searchable. By ensuring accessibility for visually impaired users and boosting your website's SEO, these rich descriptions help search engines better understand and index your visual content, increasing organic traffic to your site.
While AI-powered alt text generation is a premium feature, we have also made it possible for all customers to add and edit alt text manually through Asset Manager or via our API.
Simplifying Image Editing with User-Friendly Features
We have added new functionalities to our user-friendly Asset Manager dashboard, making image editing more intuitive. Now you can adjust aspect ratios, crop with ease and accuracy, and transform the backgrounds of your images with our AI-powered background replacement feature.

Creating Unique Visuals with Masks
Creating a mask is a versatile capability that allows you to apply custom shapes, rounded corners, and transparent areas to your images. Widely used in modern web design, masks help create unique and engaging visuals to make your content stand out. You can apply predefined shapes such as ellipses or use custom shapes from transparent image URLs to develop eye-catching branding for your website and bespoke designs for marketing materials, including social media graphics and product images.
In the example below, Sol Surf Co. uses masks to incorporate branding assets such as their S logo and natural elements such as the wave shape into their visuals. This evokes a strong brand identity that aligns with their core product offering and resonates with their target demographic.

Video watermarking allows you to add custom watermarks, such as your logo, to your video content. This not only safeguards your content against unauthorized use, but also broadens your brand visibility and recognition.
2. Ensuring Privacy with Face Detection and Cropping, Blur, and Pixelation
Our facial recognition features accurately identify faces in any image so that you can crop or blur them out. Face detection and cropping can automatically identify and crop selected faces to generate perfectly framed avatars or profile photos. In addition, face blur and pixelation enable you to protect people’s identities by anonymizing faces and help you comply with privacy regulations.
3. Managing Content Lifespan with Expiration Timestamps
Expiration timestamps allow you to control how long an image is served. With this feature, you can set specific expiration dates as well as combine the parameter with signed URLs to further enhance security and prevent tampering.
4. Securing SVG Files from Potential Threats
SVG sanitation is a crucial security step that ensures your SVG files are safe to use. When you process an SVG through imgix, the rendering engine removes scripting and potentially harmful attributes, such as links to external documents or resources, to prevent cross-site scripting attacks, SEO spam, phishing, and third-party tracking.
